Rev. Jim Martin

I am always asked the question, “Why do you do what you do for the profoundly disabled?” I always answer in the following vein. “We do what we do in order that some disabled people may be cared for with a special kind of love, we do it so the parents of our residents can receive relief from the awesome task of looking after their special children at home.”

Rev Martin founded the Martin Residential Trust in January 1988. He built the Home on the grounds of St Brigid's Parish Church where he was the Rector up until 1994.

Although "retired" from the Church of Ireland, he is still very much involved with the Trust.

In 1998 his name was included in the Queen's New Year Honor's List, and in April of that same year, he was invited to Buckingham Palace to meet with Her Majesty, and to receive his M.B.E. for his outstanding works with Profoundly Disabled People.
